Is there another meaning to purity rings?
Many of my friends (and even friends friends) have purity rings. Even though I'm a Christian like them I still don't get it? Why must you wear a ring to fulfill a choice that you've made for yourself for your life? Why can't you make a promise to yourself in your mind or in your heart?

It's for naive kids who want to repress natural human urges and feelings. If you wanted to have sex with somebody, and they wanted to have sex with you, and you both went through with it, what could be more pure? If anything it's actually showing respect for your body, not disrespect. Purity rings are worn so people will think you are "good" and "innocent". Somewhere along the road people got the lame idea that sex is a bad thing, and that it's un pure and dirty unless it's in the so called "sanctity of marriage". The only un pure sex it rape. Other than that, people really need to get over themselves.
